We rented a gîte in the Drôme where the friendly French owners invited us for an apéritif on our very first evening. We sat outside in their beautiful garden with a glass of local rosé and olives. In our best French — and with a lot of help from Google Translate — we chatted about the region, the weather and the differences with the Netherlands. An evening I won't forget anytime soon.
