The Smell Of Lavender
It was April in Provence and the air was filled with the scent of wild lavender and jasmine. My husband and I were hiking in the mountains and riding through the beautiful canyons. We stopped to take a break at the river — and that's where I found them. Beautiful purple-red stones, my favourite earth pigment colour from this trip. At home I processed them into pigment powder — and so this painting came to be. What a richness of colour and texture. A gift from mother earth, straight from Provence.

Each painting is framed in a layer of linen, with pressed dried flowers from the Austrian Alps woven in — flowers hold their own quiet meaning and memory, and here they become part of the artwork itself.
Because every frame is made by hand, and often made to order, no two are ever quite the same. The flowers in your frame may be arranged slightly differently from the one pictured in the photographs.
